Lubera stops plant deliveries to the UK
Due to Brexit, we are not able to deliver to the UK. We are working on a solution on how we can continue to bring a wide range of Lubera plants to the UK and directly to our customers' homes in the future. However, such a solution will not be available before 2022 or 2023.

Spring Detox Smoothie

Spinach is rich in folic acid, which is known to protect our DNA and strengthen the regeneration of cells. Super, then spinach can be included pure as the main ingredient in our Spring Detox Smoothie.

At this time of year (if the snow has also already melted at your house), our stinging nettle “friends” are also starting to sprout. In folk medicine this “weed” has been used for generations for spring cures. Its effect is purifying and detoxifying.

Chia seeds are a newer food for us. They are even called superfood and enrich our smoothie with proteins, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and calcium. If you cannot get this ingredient, leave it out and add one more macadamia nut instead. We know that an apple a day is healthy. I really don’t have to explain why, right? The lemon gives us vitamins and macadamia nuts are supposed to be good for our cholesterol levels. It seems to me that with this drink spring fatigue (hopefully?) has no chance with me. So here we go:

Sweet Detox Smoothie

1 cup of spinach
1 cup of fresh stinging nettle leaves if available, otherwise use 2 cups of spinach
2 teaspoons of chia seeds
3 macadamia nuts
Juice of half a lemon
1 large apple, quartered, cored, cut into pieces
1 piece of ginger (fingertip size), peeled and cut into pieces
1 tablespoon of honey, if we want the drink to be sweet
500 ml of water

Piquant variation
Omit the apple. Instead of the honey, use spices like paprika, pepper and a little salt.

Spicy variation
Omit the apple. Use spices such as chili or wasabi and season this mixture with salt and pepper.

The two variations are well suited as an unusual aperitif. They can be jazzed up with vodka.

Here’s how to prepare the smoothie:

Pour the chia seeds into the mixing container, add the macadamia nuts and the water and let stand for a couple of minutes. Now add the rest of the ingredients. Puree until creamy and enjoy.

As you have seen, you can easily make a smoothie and the healthy drink can be flavoured with the spices you like. Sweet or piquant, whatever you desire. Cheers! To a healthy spring. Oh yes: I like the sweet version the best.
