Product information "Dwarf Serbian Spruce 'Nana'"

The Serbian Dwarf Spruce grows very wide, especially at a young age; it can grow 80-120 cm wide and only 80 cm tall after 10 years. As it grows, the basic shape stays the same. Due to its growth form, the Dwarf Serbian Spruce is mainly used in heather gardens and rockeries. The needles are shorter and much wider than the normal form of Serbian Spruce. The white stripes have a much better effect and they characterise the colour appearance even more than the normal form: this is now clearly accentuated in a blue-grey colour.

The Dwarf Serbian Spruce loves rich, deep soils; waterlogging should be avoided. Please note that Picea omorika nana has very shallow roots, which results in risks of windbreak; if it is planted unprotected and alone, then it should be staked, especially in the early years.
Similar to the normal form, the compact Siberian Spruce is very hardy, resistant to late frosts and city-friendly, meaning that it is insensitive to exhaust.

Suitable as a potted Christmas tree

Due to its very compact growth habit, the Dwarf Serbian Spruce can be used for years as a potted Christmas tree. The elegant, blue-silvery colour is also very interesting. As with all potted Christmas trees, it is certainly better if they are decorated outside in the weeks before Christmas; they then should only be taken into the house for the actual Christmas celebration, then brought back outside afterwards. This prevents the tree from drawing the wrong conclusions due to the heated room. Not that it already thinks in January that it’s time for spring ...
