Product information "Grape Kiwi September Scarlet®"

With September Scarlet®, the red-fruited grape kiwi variety, growing grapes or mini kiwis in the home garden can be extended further. September Scarlet® is already mature in September as the name implies! This makes cultivation possible even at high altitudes; something that had little chance of success with older varieties.

September Scarlet® is the earliest of the grape kiwis (Actinidia arguta); the red fruits with the red flesh are about 3.5 cm long and they are aromatically sweet. Actinidia arguta is hardy to -28°C. September Scarlet® is self-infertile - and needs the male kiwi plant Maskulino as a pollinator...

Maturity: The earliest of the grape kiwis; thus can also be grown in high altitudes and regions with short vegetation periods
Fruits: Oval, about 3.5 cm long fruits, the edible skin turns ready in sunny locations, red flesh
Flavour: Aromatic, sweet
Growth/health: Robust, strong growth, 6-8 m, hardy to -28°C. Needs pollinator variety Maskulino. Bears fruit starting in the third year
Botanical name: Actinidia arguta

What are Lubera grape kiwis?

Lubera grape kiwis are the best fruiting Actinidia arguta varieties that we have put together as an assortment. We call them grape kiwis because they bear fruit in clusters; they are more like berry plants than fruit trees, and because they are fruit-bearing vines just like table grapes. Grape kiwis are not just small kiwis (the term mini kiwi is also misleading and should really no longer be used); they are not only the small stepsisters of the classic kiwi, but a type of berry fruit in its own right.

Why plant Lubera grape kiwis?
-the fruits are edible with the skin
-they are more aromatic than the classic kiwi
-the yield is very high and regular and is usually earlier than the classic kiwi
-they are edible directly off the bush
-they are absolutely frost-resistant/hardy to about -30°C
