Product information "Pawpaw KSU Atwood®"
The limiting factor for pawpaw in our climate is clearly the maturity, the length of the available vegetation period. We therefore strive to introduce new varieties that ripen earlier and also provide a rich harvest of excellent quality in Northern Germany. KSU Atwood yields medium to large fruits that are rather roundish, with yellow-orange flesh, a green peel and noticeably few seeds. More than other varieties, KSU Atwood is reminiscent of mango; it tastes very good, exotic and sweet. In our climate, it is ripe at the end of September, beginning of October. This makes growing pawpaw possible even in slightly elevated locations. We recommend using the relatively early variety Sunflower as a pollinator.Maturity: Early, late September, beginning of October
Fruits: Medium to large, rather rounded; with 150 fruits per tree, still 120 g per fruit; with less yield, the fruits are larger, yellow-orange flesh, green skin, few seeds
Flavour: Strongly reminiscent of mango, very good and exotic tasting, sweet
Space requirement: 2 - 3 m high, 1 - 2 m wide
Pollination: Self-infertile, needs a pollinator like 'Prima' or 'Sunflower'
Growth: Very healthy, upright crown; the great fertility leads to rather small trees; bright yellow autumn colouring
Breeder: Kentucky State University

Paw Paw pot depth (Frank Jordan)
Hi there, Paw Paws have very deep tap roots - what is the depth of the pots for your seedlings? My understanding is a shallow pot will produce a substandard tree? Many thanks!
