Lubera stops plant deliveries to the UK
Due to Brexit, we are not able to deliver to the UK. We are working on a solution on how we can continue to bring a wide range of Lubera plants to the UK and directly to our customers' homes in the future. However, such a solution will not be available before 2022 or 2023.

Product information "Mini Pear Pironi® Joy of Kent"

Already last year we offered the first mini pear tree that had been bred in East Malling and exclusively produced and distributed by Lubera. But only in September 2015, it was christened in East Malling: this russeted variety bears the name Joy of Kent, which, by the way, was a proposal of our English customers. The Godmother, incidentally, was our first English associate Fran Suermondt! This variety is surprising in that it always has the same excellent fruit quality, for both high and low fruit yields.

With the Pironis, we introduce two compact growing pear varieties, which can be grafted to pear seedling; they grow will in any soil, they are extremely fruitful and only grow 150cm high in 25 years. Both species go back to a French great-grandmother from the 19th century (Nain vert; or nain a bois monstrueux). Incidentally, in the last two breeding generations, Conference, Comice and Packhams Triumph have been crossbred, which now contribute to the excellent fruit quality of the Pironis.

Fruits: Small to medium, depending on the fruit set; 70-100% rusted on a green background
Texture: Melting, skin is slightly rough, rougher than No. 1, but tolerable (see 'Bosc pear')
Flavour: Pear flavour, quite refreshing thanks to the acidity
Growth: Extremely compact, more broad than high, only grows 150 cm high in 20-25 years
Harvest/maturity: Ready to be picked in mid-September; after storage and an additional 3-4 days of warm storage, they are a melting enjoyment until the end of December. If you leave them hanging on the tree, they have a melting texture from mid to late October

These are plants that can be enjoyed immediately and without effort once planted.

Pollination (Peter Brady)

What does the tree need for pollination? We have a Bramley apple within 5 meters A Victoria plum and a crab apple about 7 meters away

Pollination (Philipp Schneider)

Dear Mr. Brady,
you need another pear for pollination. Mini Pear Pironi® Little Sweety® would be a good pollinator.
If another pear is in a garden around than you will have no need for another pollinator.
your Lubera-Team.
