Product information "Firstberry® 'Blue Pagoda'"
The Firstberry 'Blue Pagoda' has the high yield typical of our highbush varieties and healthy foliage until autumn, thanks to its Japanese origin. The large fruits are frosted white and have an excellent flavour. Be sure to leave the berries hanging on the bush until they reach full maturity.'Blue Pagoda' grows a little less strongly, however, is equally robust and ornamental.
Maturity: Mid-June, let berries hang longer for full maturity
Berries: Approximately the same size as 'Blue Hokkaido', but with a slightly smaller yield; deep
dark blue; has a "crisp" texture; somewhat more acidic than 'Blue Hokkaido'
Growth/health: Upright habit, slightly less vigorous than 'Blue Hokkaido', approx. 150 cm high, 1 m planting distance
Yield: Large, 1 to 5 kg per shrub is possible
Pollination: 'Blue Pagoda' is self-infertile like all Lonicera fruit varieties and therefore requires 'Blue Hokkaido' as a pollinator

Highbush vs lowbush (Jack)
Hi, I would like to know more about these berries. Which firstberries taste better - highbush or lowbush? How does the taste of these berries compare with blueberries/raspberries? (I would like to eat them fresh (raw), but I've heard that they may be too sour) Do firstberries grow more and larger fruit through cross-pollination with different varieties (like blueberries)? Can they be grown in pots and containers?
Highbush vs lowbush (Philipp Schneider)
Hi, there is no general difference in the taste of Highbush vs. Lowbush Firstberries. But of cource there is a different taste from variety to variety.
Best regards
Philipp Schneider, Lubera-Team.
