Due to Brexit, we are not able to deliver to the UK. We are working on a solution on how we can continue to bring a wide range of Lubera plants to the UK and directly to our customers' homes in the future. However, such a solution will not be available before 2022 or 2023.

Why should you plant zigzag mulberries in your garden?
The biggest problem for growing mulberries in your home garden is surely the plant size. Hardly anyone has more space to grow a large tree in their own garden. The zigzag mulberry grows much more compact; it can also be grown as a shrub, perhaps 2-3 m high, however it can also be kept shorter by pruning. In addition, this plant has a high decorative value thanks to its shiny leaves and the decorative zigzag growth!

Winter protection for pomegranates & mulberries
The young wood of the new pomegranate varieties as well as the zigzag mulberry can also freeze back. It is therefore advisable to protect the shrubs throughout the winter with isolating material during the first three years. Stronger wood is then much more resistant and this is also the case with figs. Moreover, in particular for pomegranates, it is worthwhile to find a very mild location, e.g. on a house wall. In our region, the zigzag mulberry has easily survived the last very cold winter (2011/2012) – also even newly planted shrubs.

Mulberry (Rosaleen Davison)

I have seen there is now a dwarf mulberry - I wondered if you had one? I am interested in growing a mulberry tree or bush that does not grow too big and it will produce fruit very soon rather than having to wait years for it to produce its First fruit. I am very interested in a mulberry tree or bush as hopefully the fruit is very sweet .? I would also like to grow a Sweet chestnut tree that doesn't get too big and will produce nuts fairly soon rather than waiting years for it to produce? Can you please let me know whether you have either of these to grow here in the UK in Worcestershire? Thank you very much .rosey

Species (Alan Brack)

Hi, is mulberry zickzack a morus alba or a morus nigra variety? And how is the flavour of the fruit compared to a traditional morus nigra such as king James/Chelsea?

Mulberry Zickzack (Sonja Dreher)

Hello,
Zickzack is a Morus alba variety. The taste is very sweet and juicy, but Morus nigra has bigger fruits. The most outstanding attribute is the zickzack-growth and the fact, that this bushy variety does not get so big, so it is more suitable for the house garden.
How the taste is , compared to King JAmes and Chelaes, I can't tell, because I never tasted the two others.

kind regards
your lubera team
