Product information "Armoracia rusticana"

Perennial horseradish is an ancient, fragrant, flowering herb. It has a white corolla with many quartic flowers that appear above the slightly leathery foliage from June to July. The foliage is slightly wrinkled and serrated at the edge and grows to a height of 50 cm. This variety is propagated vegetatively through root pieces. Horseradish originally comes from Southern Russia. Due to the essential oils in the rootstock, it was already cultivated in Finland in the Middle Ages. Even today, horseradish is used for coughs and bronchitis in natural medicine. In the kitchen it is widely used, for example, for meat and fish dishes. Those who have ever used freshly grated horseradish will keep their distance from horseradish in a glass. The plant prefers loose, humus, sunny locations. However, before you plant Armoracia rusticana in your own garden, you should be aware that even the smallest root pieces can grow again into a handsome horseradish plant. You then enter into a long-term commitment.
