Product information "Lowberry® Raspberry Little Sweet Sister®"

The fastest of all raspberries! A world novelty: compact growing (about 80 cm), thornless autumn raspberry, ideal for growing in pots. Little Sweet Sister® starts to bear fruit – once established in the pot or garden – already in the middle of July, 3 weeks before 'Autumn Bliss' or 'Autumn First'; in contrast to the compact sister variety 'Little Red Princess', which ripens 5 to 6 weeks later, 'Little Red Sister'® can really concentrate on the Primocane harvest, i.e. on the fruits of this year's canes. The fruits are medium-sized with a beautiful, dark red colour. They are roughly the same size as those of 'Little Red Princess', but they ripening much earlier.

This is the beginning of a new chapter in raspberry breeding: the already “old” variety Autumn Bliss pushed the earliest ripening time of the autumn cranberries to the beginning of August 30 years ago, and now we are clearly in July. Actually, the concept of “autumn raspberries” is becoming obsolete: Little Sweet Sister® actually matures in the middle of the summer. But in contrast to the classic summer raspberries (such as Meeker, Tulameen or Sanibelle), it bears fruit on the one-year-old canes and not the two-year-old ones.

Cultivation: Bears fruit on one-year-old shoots, consistently cut back old canes to 5 cm in February
Maturity: 'Little Sweet Sister'® is the earliest of all autumn raspberries. Once established in the pot or garden, it starts to bear fruit already in mid-July, 3 weeks before 'Autumn Bliss' or' Autumn First'; in contrast to 'Little Red Princess'®, which is more compact and matures 5-6 weeks later, one can really concentrate on the primocane harvest of the fruits on this year’s canes. Ultimately, 'Litte Sweet Sister'® is also
the fastest raspberry: no other variety hurries like this one to produce its canes and at the same time its flowers and fruits
Fruits: Medium, beautiful dark red colour. About the same size as the ones from 'Little Red Princess'®, but they mature much earlier
Growth: Compact, about 80 cm, a bit more compact than 'Little Red Princess'®, which makes it more suitable for containers than 'Little Red Princess'

Lowfruits
Low-hanging fruits mean as a phrase “easily and quickly attainable goals”, the rapid fulfillment of desire. This – both figuratively and literally – is exactly what is possible with our Lowfruit® series: Fruit plants that can be grown and harvested simply and without problems in small spaces, in the garden, on a balcony or terrace, and they are no taller than a metre. The fruits of temptation have never hung lower!

After years of breeding, the dream is now a reality: we are able to introduce the first two plants in our Lowfruit® series: the first two Lowberries®, the thornless, compact autumn raspberry Little Red Princess® and the thornless autumn blackberry Little Black Prince®. Both are only between 60 and 100 cm high and bear fruit on 1-year-old shoots in August to September. Gardening has never been easier since Gulliver's travels to the dwarfs! Step inside the Berry Land of Gnomes!
