Lubera stops plant deliveries to the UK
Due to Brexit, we are not able to deliver to the UK. We are working on a solution on how we can continue to bring a wide range of Lubera plants to the UK and directly to our customers' homes in the future. However, such a solution will not be available before 2022 or 2023.

More information about limes

The term "lime" is a collective term that covers a wide variety of species and origins and essentially describes small limes and other smaller citrus fruits. The term goes back to the original Hindu term for limes ('lime', 'limbu'). Thus, the original origin of many lime plants is also clear. As with other citrus fruits, the Arabs played an important mediating role, taking up the culture in India and Persia and spreading it throughout the Mediterranean region. Limes in the narrower sense of the word are the "real" sour limes (Citrus aurantifolia) and the sweet Indian limes (Palestinian sweet lime, bot. Citrus limettioides).

The lime tree

In a broader sense, however, many smaller citrus species such as Citrus hystrix, the Kaffir lime and above all the Australian finger lime, the so-called caviar lime, belong to the citrus group of lime plants.

Since the 20th century, limes have played an important role in the production of drinks (cocktails) and as spicy, aromatic ingredients for various dishes. Today, limes are more frequently used for cooking than lemons. Their distinct acidity makes them particularly effective and a valuable ingredient. It is particularly delicious when the fruit comes from a home-grown tree. Why not take a look at all of the varieties in the Lubera® Garden Shop.
