Product information "Variegated Orange 'Tarocco foliis variegatis'"

The variegated orange is decorative and surprising in at least two ways: first, it’s beige-green striped leaves are decorative as are the fruits that have fine, green stripes in the middle of the otherwise yellow peel. And there the two surprises: since one is so used to such mutations and chimeras especially of old bitter orange varieties, one will initially have this suspicion here as well: but far from it, the variegated orange is definitely a sweet orange, with a lot of sweetness and only very little acidity. Bitterness is not felt at all. And the other surprise? Well, the peel is yellow, in addition to the green stripes; the juice is also yellow-beige like a lemon, and so you could optically already come up with the idea that this variegated orange is actually a lemon. But it is definitely not one and the above-mentioned sweet taste, which can also be found in the juice, underlines that. On the contrary, this sweet orange might be just for those citrus lovers who want to eat as sweet oranges as possible with little acidity. In addition, our experience of tasting comes from fruits that have grown in northern Germany, in Bad Zwischenahn... If they are sweet there, they will be sweet everywhere. ;-)
