Product information "Fig Tree Gustis® Amatrice Casale"
Early and juicy – this is how the distinguishing characteristics of the fruit fig Gustis® Amatice Casale can be described. And “early” is really crucial because the growing season with us is slightly shorter than in more southern regions...Just as most northern figs, Amatrice Casale bears fruits on last year's wood and part of the harvest still takes place in September. The whitish green fruits form a beautiful contrast to the dark-fruited, black and purple varieties.
Like nearly all of our fig varieties, Gustis® Amatrice Casale has been selected by Gusti Berchtold in the middle of the Alps, in the Chur Rhine Valley. This fig has good hardiness and great stability in varying temperatures from January to March (does not bud too early).
Maturity: Early ripening, but also an earlier start of yield
Fruits: Very bright variety, medium-sized, whitish green fruit, white flesh, tasty and juicy, high yielding
Growth: Frost resistant, medium strong, well-branched growth, also suitable for growing in pots
Gustissimo® Figs: Growing outdoors
• Mild location, sheltered from winter breezes
• Full sun if possible
• Humus soil, otherwise improve soil
• Can be planted throughout the entire year; when planting in autumn, attach double winter protection during the first winter
Gustissimo® Figs: Growing in containers
• Grow in a 12-15 litre container for 1-2 years
• After 1-2 years, replant it in a container with a volume of 50 L or more
• Repot the plant every 3 years in a container with 20-30% more volume or reduce the crown and root system by 30% and fill the pot again with fresh substrate
• In the summer, figs are relatively thirsty; the large leaves evaporate a lot of water
