Product information "Lagerstroemia 'Petite Snow'"

Lagerstroemia 'Petite Snow' is a dwarf among the Lagerstroemias.  'Petite Snow' grows only about 1.5 m high and 1 m wide. This by no means that the plant is small, however, the flower umbels at the end of each shoot, where the small flowers form 10 cm large flowering umbels. The pure white flowers make it look as if the plant is hidden under a pile of snow. From July to September the flowers appear and radiate a summery flair. The pure white flowers in combination with the dark red leaves are particularly beautiful.

Location and hardiness
To ensure optimal growth, a warm and sunny location is essential, as this plant actually comes from the subtropics. A site with sun from morning to evening and a soil, which is well supplied with water, but is not subject to waterlogging, is ideal. In the winter, the plants are hardy to -15°C, but young plants should be protected from the low temperatures with a thick layer of straw over the root zone. If the shoots freeze above the ground, this will not be a problem. In the spring, the shoots should then be cut back to 3-5 buds in order to ensure good flowering – and the entire shrub is completely regenerated.

Using the compact Lagerstroemia 'Petite Snow'
Due to the low growth, Lagerstroemia indica 'Petite Snow' can be planted both in the garden and in a pot. Potted plants should be overwintered at about 0°C. Since the leaves drop in the winter a dark overwintering location is suitable and as soon as the plant starts to sprout again it should return to the sun.
