Product information "Lagerstroemia 'Rose Fuchsia'"

Lagerstroemia 'Rose Fuchsia' flowers, as the name suggests, in pink. They appear from July to September. They stand in dense clumps at the end of the shoots in large numbers and decorate the plant. The petals are slightly wavy and provide an elegant appearance. The final height of Lagerstroemia indica 'Rose Fuchsia' is around 3 m uncut with a width of 2 m and this is reached after about 10 years. In our climate, the crepe myrtles are usually cut back every year to 3-4 buds (allowing you to get rid of frozen back shoots), and then, of course, a height of 3 m is hardly ever reached.

Location and requirements of Lagerstroemia 'Rose Fuchsia'
Although Lagerstroemia 'Rose Fuchsia' comes from the subtropical and tropical areas of Asia, it can be planted in the garden in our climate. For this, the plant needs a location in full sun with a good water supply, however without waterlogging. In order to form flowers, the location should also be protected, so a location on a warming wall is ideal. The plant should also really be exposed to sun from morning to evening.

Hardiness of Lagerstroemia 'Rose Fuchsia'
Temperatures down to -15°C are tolerated, but young plants (up to the 3rd year) should be protected by a protective layer of straw over the root zone. In colder regions, planting in pots may make sense with frost protection during the cold season. When planting it is important to note that the root ball should be well roughened and then deeply planted. It should then be covered with 5-10 cm of soil. If there is an abnormal winter coldness and all of the shoots freeze, Lagerstroemia can easily regenerate from the roots.

Use in the garden
Lagerstroemia indica 'Rose Fuchsia' can be used as a normal ornamental shrub (comparable in terms of hardiness and pruning with the summer lilac) and used in a planting with well-known ornamental shrubs is becomes somewhat exotic.
