Product information "Clematis 'Francis Rivis'"

Clematis alpina Francis Rivis belongs to the early flowering varieties and opens its beautiful, medium blue flowers starting in April. These consist of 4 petals and are 4 to 6 cm in size. The graceful flowers have a nodding shape and beautiful, light yellow stamens. The main flowering season is from April to May, but also from June to August single flowers appear again and again.
Francis Rivis is very suitable for natural gardens, where it greens fences, walls, pergolas and trellises. It is also very effective to grow them into small trees or shrubs. With 200 to 300 cm their height is manageable.
In contrast to most other clematis species, this variety thrives very well in dry soils. Conversely, it reacts particularly sensitively to waterlogging – so please only plant in permeable soils.
Since the flowers develop on the old shoots, you should not cut back this very hardy clematis. Thus, each year, it becomes lush and rich-flowered. If the flowering power diminishes after a few years we recommend that you cut back this variety rigorously. It is best to do this in early June, right after the main flowering.
