Product information "Umbrella Bamboo 'Bimbo'"

If you do not have enough space in your garden or on your balcony and terrace, you do not have to do without the exotic atmosphere that bamboos plants provide. With the 1.5 m high umbrella bamboo 'Bimbo' even small areas, preferably in shade, can be planted.
Weak growth with a big impact

With a height of only 1.5 m, the small umbrella bamboo 'Bimbo' is a tiny plant among the bamboos. And that is exactly what makes this plant so special: anyone who has no space in the garden for 3-4 m high bamboo plants and still does not want to miss out on the exotic flair of the bamboos, is well served with the bamboo 'Bimbo'. The bimbo 'Bimbo', on the other hand, can easily fill even the smallest areas and also thrives in less comfortable situations. Partially shaded or even shady locations are perfect, and it also thrives against a house wall. In shady locations, the small umbrella bamboo 'Bimbo' can create accents due to it light green foliage and it can also illuminate dark corners of the home. This variety does not really care for sunny locations. The flowers of the Fargesia appear almost synchronously every 80-130 years and after flowering the plants die off. The last bloom of the Fargesia took place around 1995, which means that the plant is not excepted to bloom in the next 60-80 years.
A small sphere

The small umbrella bamboo 'Bimbo' looks slightly spherical due to its growth. This impression comes about because of its thin canes. These are slightly overhanging due to the dense foliage. This bamboo grows clump-like, meaning that no rhizomes are formed and no root barrier is needed. It is hardy down to -20°C, but often gets drought damage in the winter, as the leaves evaporate water, which cannot be replenished from the frozen soil. Therefore, a partially shaded location is recommended. The umbrella bamboo 'Bimbo' needs a little more water than other Fargesias. Also, therefore, a humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil is ideal for this umbrella bamboo.
Perfect for terraces and balconies

Due to its low growth, the dense foliage and the many canes, Fargesia murielae 'Bimbo' can be used best as a visual screen on balconies and terraces. In the garden, a planting near the house is recommended, as this is where bamboo works best. Open areas should be avoided because the bamboo develops poorly and often gets damaged during in winter. In northern Germany and in England and Holland, a sunny location is also possible.
