Product information "Japanese Azalea 'Michiko'"
The azalea dwarf 'Michiko' has the most compact growth of all Japanese azaleas. It is only 20 to 30 cm high and grows extremely dense and cushion-shaped. This makes it a star for small gardens, inner courtyards and of course it is ideal for pots and other planters.Flowers early and very rich
Rhododendron obtusum 'Michiko' opens its flowers at the end of April, a bit earlier than the other varieties. The rich pink, star-like flowers are wide open and have a delicate, wine red marking in the centre. They have a diameter of about 3 cm. Since 'Michiko' has an extremely rich bloom, the entire foliage disappears in the spring due to the pink cloud of flowers.
A permanent decoration for gardens
With its cushion-shaped growth and shiny, fresh green leaves, the Japanese azalea 'Michiko' is very attractive throughout the entire year. Since the foliage stay on the plant for a long time, it also sets green accents during the winter months. 'Michiko' thrives in the sun or partial shade and it is very hardy. A suitable soil is important for a long azalea life: humus-rich and acidic (pH 4.5 to 5.5). If necessary, you must treat the soil with rhododendron soil or peat accordingly.
