Product information "Clematis 'Dark Eyes'"

This unusual clematis captivates with its deep, purple-violet flower colour. Even the stamens are purple-violet, so that the flower has a very special, mysterious charisma. The velvety flowers consist of 4 to 5 petals and they reach a diameter of 5 to 6 cm. With a growth height of 150 to 200 cm, this dark beauty remains very compact. The flowers are produced on this year's shoots and appear from early July to late September.
Clematis viticella Dark Eyes is suitable for planting in beds and it is a reliable container plant. It is hardy, vital and thrives without problems in sunny and partially shady locations. An annual pruning of the shoots between 20 and 50 cm is advisable in February.
With its unusual, velvety, dark flower colour, Dark Eyes should be placed close to the eye of the beholder - close to the house, near a sitting area or directly by a path. If this climbing plant is surrounded by yellow or orange flowers, a bright complementary contrast develops.
Dark Eyes is a relatively new breed from Germany. It was launched in 2001 by Willem Straver.
