Product information "Clematis 'Etoile Violette'"

This variety is a classic in the Viticella group. Clematis viticella Etoile Violette was introduced in France as early as 1885. Its breeder is Francisque Morel, who acquired great merit in clematis breeding in the nineteenth century.
The star-shaped, violet flowers have 4 to 6 petals and a diameter of 6 to 8 cm. The yellow stamens form a beautiful contrast to the velvety violet of the flowers. Clematis viticella Etoile Violette has a vigorous habit and easily reaches heights of 300 to 350 cm. Its tremendous blooms have made it one of the most popular clematis varieties.
The flowers appear from June to September in an incredible abundance. Thus Etoile Violette enchants home entrances, fences, walls and carports. It can also climb rose arches and obelisks within a short time. This absolutely hardy and rich-blooming clematis is suitable for large planters.
Since the flowering takes place on the young (this year's) shoots, this clematis should be cut back between 20 and 50 cm each year in February. It then develops new shoots again and retains its flowering abundance for many years.
