Product information "Clematis 'Duchess of Albany'"

This rich-flowering clematis with its unique flower shape was already bred in England in 1890. Its flowers consist of 4 to 6 petals and they have a diameter of about 5 cm. The pretty flowers are pinkish coloured and get darker towards the centre. They are shaped like small tulips or bells and are a delight from June to September.
Clematis texensis 'Duchess of Albany' reaches an average height of 250 to 300 cm. It grows relatively dense and greens pergolas, fences, carports and obelisks. It can be combined well with white, blue or violet-flowering neighbouring plants.
Due to its rich bloom and very good frost hardiness, 'Duchess of Albany' can also be used as a decorative, rich flowering plant. It loves sunny locations, but also thrives well in partial shade.
In order to preserve the flowering abundance for many years, this clematis should be cut back between 20 and 50 cm above the ground every year in February. Then it forms many, strong, new shoots with good bud development.
