Clematis 'H.F. Young' was bred in England in the 1960s. With a diameter of 14 to 18 cm, it forms very large flowers. These glow in a clear, bright blue tone and consist of 6 to 8 petals. The dense, yellow stamens are also decorative.
'H.F. Young' grows beautifully compact and bushy. It is versatile in the garden. It beautifies walls, fences, pergolas and carports. With its dense growth and rich flowering, it is also very popular as a perennial clematis for pots, which can be placed on balconies and terraces.
The flowering takes place in two phases: in May/June the buds open on the previous year’s shoots. Subsequently, new buds are formed on the fresh shoots, which open in August and September.
For this magnificent clematis to flourish richly and reliably for many years, it should be regularly cut back once a year. For this purpose, cut back all of the shoots to half their size in February.
