Product information "Clematis 'Madame Julia Correvon'"

Madame Julia Correvon is a classic of the viticella varieties. It enchants with its clear, luminous flower colour and with its imperious amount of flowers. Its crimson flowers have a diameter of 7 to 10 cm and have 4-6 petals with a slightly wavy edge. In contrast to the bright flower colour, the yellow stamens have a particularly decorative effect.
Clematis viticella Madame Julia Correvon grows vigorously and densely, reaching a height of 250 to 350 cm. Due to its bright flower colour, it has a good effect from a distance and it can be combined well with white and blue-coloured clematis varieties. Designing with Madame Julia Correvon is hardly limited. It thrives both in full sun and in the shade and it climbs pergolas, carports, trellises and obelisks. With its very good winter hardiness, this is a dream variety for the permanent planting of containers.
Since this variety blooms on new shoots, it can easily be shortened a shoot length between 20 and 50 cm in the spring (preferably in February). This charming, red clematis was bred in France by Francisque Morel and brought to the market in 1900. Since then, it has evolved into a true classic whose fan base grows daily. In addition to its vitality and richness, viticellas have another advantage: they are not affected by the feared clematis wilt.
