Product information "Dwarf Korean Fir 'Compacta'"

The Dwarf Korean Fir is like its big sister, the normal-sized Korean Fir: absolutely hardy, it tolerates larger amounts of snow and can therefore be planted at high altitudes. It has a compact habit and even after 10 years is barely reaches 120 cm. Thus, the dwarf form of the Korean Fir can even be planted in the smallest gardens, combined with other shrubs such as roses.

As with the large mother form, the needles of the dwarf form are also white and silvery on the underside; here too, fine green separation strips can be seen in the centre of the needles, almost like the central reservation of a greyish white motorway. Well, maybe the proportions are not exactly right and the comparison is entirely wrong ;-)

Due to the extremely compact growth, the levels of branches can no longer be seen exactly, but as a whole, the Dwarf Korean Fir is something like an epitome, the symbol of a small and fine dwarf tree. And many garden enthusiasts have inevitably called this tree “cute”, refreshingly nice and small. Precisely because of this charisma, the Dwarf Korean Fir is of course also suitable as an ornamental potted plant for balconies and terraces.

Suitable as a potted Christmas tree

If you wanted to buy a Dwarf Korean Fir in a pot that has the same size as a small cut Christmas tree for decorating (100-130 cm), this luxury Christmas tree would be almost unaffordable. This is because it would take 10-15 years for the tree to reach this size at a nursery. This extremely slow and compact growth is also the reason that even small plants are not cheap – and therefore they are also not found everywhere! As a Christmas tree, the Korean Fir is predestined because it is the perfect example of a small tree, the diminutive form of the Christmas tree. Correspondingly, the Dwarf Korean Fir can also be used at Christmas time: as a second tree that adorns the winter garden or gives the entrance of a house a festive mood or temporarily decorates a meeting table. And another advantage: just because the Dwarf Korean Fir grows so slowly, it can be used for Christmas purposes for several years; the rest of the year it stays unpretentious and green, but also small and delightful on terraces or balconies.
