Juniperus communis is a characteristic plant of the North German moors, but it can also be found in southern-located rough pastures. It has a columnar, often multi-stemmed habit; it falls apart with age, resulting in very bizarre trees.
This juniper has blue-green needles that are white underneath.
'Arnold' reaches a height of about 3 m and it can handle all garden soils, except with waterlogging. Pruning is not required. It is well suited for a heather border and as a focal point in a ground covering plant border.
