Product information "Common Holly 'Rubricaulis Aurea'"

The holly 'Rubricaulis Aurea' has fresh green leaves with a broad yellow margin, which make the plant shine from afar. Since it is also evergreen, this plant makes a nice eye-catcher all year round. In autumn, the bright red, pea-sized fruits appear that they stay on the plant for a very long time. Thus the branches are also beautiful in vases and as a durable Christmas decoration from your own garden.

Shade is not a problem

This holly grows moderately strong and reaches a height of 2 to 5 m. Since it is tolerant to pruning, its growth can be limited well. It loves wind-protected sites in partial shade or shade and humus, evenly moist soil. With its lively foliage, it makes dark garden corners seem brighter.

Also popular with birds
Despite its exotic appearance, this holly also offers a benefit for the local bird life. Songbirds like to use the dense shrubs as hiding places and protected nesting sites. In addition, the berries serve as a welcome food in late winter – for us humans, however, they are poisonous.

A colourful hedge or privacy screen

With its dense, upright habit and evergreen leaves, the holly 'Rubricaulis Aurea' is a decorative privacy screen. For example, a single plant can be used to delineate a terrace. But even as a hedge this dense holly with the colourful leaves is very beautiful. In mild regions, it can also be cultivated year-round as a potted plant.
