Product information "Canadian St. John's Wort 'Gemo'"

The Canadian St. John's wort 'Gemo' has small, yellow flowers that appear in large numbers from July to September. The flowers form bronze-coloured fruits, which, however, are inedible. The upright shoots are light green and are up to 80 cm high; they stand tight and thus form a width of up to one metre. The valuable summer flower is winter green, which means that the leaves remain on the plant until the spring.

Hypericum kalmianum 'Gemo' should be planted in a sunny location; the soil should be slightly acidic to strongly alkaline (up to pH 8.5). Permeable, heavy soils should be avoided. This plant is suitable for almost all sunny locations and is also absolutely tolerable towards heat.

In contrast to Hypericum patulum 'Hidcote', the Canadian St. John's wort does not freeze, even in harsh locations. In the spring, prune to 15 cm in order for strong shoots to grow. In the case of planted plants or hedges, this can be done with a hedge trimmer. This ornamental shrub is used as a low hedge, in group planting or in containers. Plants per square meter: 3 pieces.

In hedges, 2-3 plants can be planted per meter, depending on how dense the hedge should be.
