Elaeagnus pungens 'Maculata' is an evergreen shrub that reaches a final height of approximately 1.5 m. It has very nice, yellow-coloured foliage that has a leathery shine and a bright-coloured underside.
The branches are thorny, but they are compensated by the small, white, sweet-smelling flowers that open in late summer.
 
Also known as spotted oleaster or variegated silverberry, this shrub tolerates pruning. It prefers well-drained, evenly moist and lime-free soil. Ideal neighbouring plants are rhododendrons and heathers, for example.
It is easy to grow and very beautiful in flower arrangements, especially for winter floral bouquets. Protect from the winter sun.
