Product information "Alder Buckthorn 'Asplenifolia'"

Rhamnus frangula 'Asplenifolia' scores with its unusual leaves: they are extremely narrow and slightly wavy and give the shrub an elegant appearance. They almost look like very fine fern leaves. In May and June, small, greenish white flowers appear. From late summer, the alder buckthorn is adorned with first red, then later violet black fruits that are the size of peas. These are often eaten by songbirds, but are toxic to us humans.

Beautiful in beds and pots

With a height of 100 to 200 cm, the laciniate alder buckthorn remains compact and can be used in numerous ways in the garden. In a solitary position the elegant foliage is very striking. The robust and reliable winter hardy shrub can also be easily grown in containers. In high, glazed stoneware planters it looks particularly noble and adorns entrance areas or terraces.

Simple cultivation; grows even without a green thumb

This alder buckthorn prefers moist, deep soils and grows even in very wet locations. It is frost hardy and thrives in very windy conditions. Whether sun, partial shade or lots of shade the alder buckthorn 'Asplenifolia' grows, thrives and always looks elegant with its beautiful foliage.
