Product information "Rock Rose 'Decumbens'"

Magically attracts looks and bees
Rock roses enrich the native garden with southern flair and due to their lush flowering and the evergreen foliage they are a beautiful, decorative element in the garden. Cistus 'Decumbens' has beautiful, white flowers; the 5 petals are each decorated with a red spot in the middle of the flower. The distinctive sight rounds off the bright yellow centre of the flower and not only attracts every look magically, but even butterflies and bees do not seem to be able to turn away from the flowers. The 6 cm large flowers appear in a large amount from July to August. With this lush flowering it is not too bad that the individual flowers last only one day; once one bloom has faded the next immediately appears to fill in the empty space. Due to the dark green foliage, the bright flowers shine properly. The rock rose 'Decumbens' grows up to 80 cm high and a little more in width. It can therefore also be used well for area plantings.
Choose a dry and warm location
Cistus danseraui 'Decumbens' comes from the Mediterranean and therefore like a sunny and dry location; even with poor soil, the plant gets along well. Heavy and wet soils Should be avoided, but these can be upgraded by the incorporation of coarse sand so that the Cistus feels comfortable. In the hot and dry climate of inner cities, Cistus 'Decumbens' grows perfectly, and the salt input in the winter is well tolerated. Although Cistus danseraui 'Decumbens' is heat loving, the plant can also cope with temperatures as low as -15°C. In order to avoid damage to the evergreen leaves, the plant can be packed above ground with a protection fleece in the winter. At temperatures below -12°C to -15°C and for young plants a protective layer of straw can also be distributed in the root area.
For coastal gardens and inner cities
Due to the high heat and drought tolerance and salt compatibility, Cistus danseraui 'Decumbens' is often used in exposed areas in the city centre. The plant also grows well on sandy soil near the coast. In the garden, the combination with colourful shrubs or woody plants is very beautiful.
Pruning Cistus Decumbens
Rock roses bloom to a large extent on the old, last year's wood. While you can prune them well in the southern climes after flowering to get compact and round growth, this is more likely in the spring. The shrub can be cut into shape and the dried shoots are removed. However, you should never cut into the old wood, if possible.
