Product information "Seven Sons Plant"

The curious name of the Seven Sons plant can be traced back to the white flowers, which each stand in tufts of seven and spread a pleasant fragrance. Not only the plant itself is a rarity in Europe, also the flowering time is rare. Most shrubs bloom in the spring or early summer; there are some that flower in the summer, but in the late summer or almost autumn, like Heptacodium miconioides, there are very few other shrubs. For bees, therefore, this shrub represents an important source of food. A pre-bloom is already formed in July. After flowering, red fruits form, which fit nicely with the colour of the autumn leaves. The peeling of the bark is a real eye-catcher in the winter. This deciduous shrub should be planted in a sunny location in nutrient-rich soil. It grows up to 4 m high with very upright growth. It should be used as a solitary woody shrub, but it is also well suited for underplantings with perennials. Semi-shade-tolerant perennials, such as white wood aster, various astilbe or low-growing bellflowers, are suitable and they can set a fresh accent in the spring and summer. Pruning is only necessary for thinning in the spring and old shoots can be removed.
