French Ceanothus is very eye-catching with its lilac-like, light blue flowers. This delicate, deciduous shrub reaches a height of up to 1.5 m and thrives in light, chalky soils and warm, dry locations, for example, on embankments. Pruning is necessary in the spring and promotes flower production.
Ceanothus delilianus ‘Gloire de Versailles’ is a fast growing, rich-flowering variety with decorative, blue panicles of flowers from July to October. Waterlogging should be avoided. Young Ceanothus plants should be provided with mild winter protection in the first few years.
