Product information "Hydrangea 'Camilla'"

The flowers of the hydrangea 'Camilla' are special, as each single flower has a pink centre with a white border. These individual flowers then combine to form lush flower balls.

Two-coloured hydrangea

The blossoms of the hydrangea 'Camilla' stretch prominently to the sky and they are covered by two-coloured, single flowers. Each single flower has a pink centre, which radiates to the edges and into a bright white border. Many of these small flowers then become conspicuous, large flower balls. These flower balls decorate the hydrangea as early as May and then remain on the plant until August. The flowers can also be used for decorating purposes. Cut hydrangea flowers also last very long in vases. On the plant, the faded flowers remain intact until the winter, forming a pretty decoration even during the cold season.

Uncomplicated and modest

The 1.5 m tall hydrangea 'Camilla' is basically hardy. However, since this hydrangea forms its flower buds in the previous year, and because these can be quite sensitive to temperatures below -15°C, winter protection is recommended in cold regions. For this purpose, the plant can be embedded with a wire mesh and the resulting plant space can be loosely filled with leaves or straw.

This hydrangea grows well in a modest, partially shaded site with neutral to acidic soil and good supply of water. Pruning is extremely straightforward; it can be done in the spring – simply cut out everything that had dried up. In addition, single, dense shoots can be removed.

Many combinations are possible

The hydrangea macrophylla 'Camilla' is a beautiful design element for almost every garden. There is certainly a place in traditional cottage gardens as well as in modern gardens. In addition, it can be combined well with rhododendrons, since they have similar site requirements. Due to the early flowering period, the hydrangea flower period can be extended by combining 'Camilla' with later blooming hydrangeas. Of course, growing hydrangeas in pots is also possible; when doing so, be sure to pay attention, especially during the flowering period, that the plant has a sufficient supply of water.
