Product information "Oak-leaved Hydrangea 'Munchkin'"

The flowers of the oak-leaved hydrangea 'Munchkin' appear from June to August and are white; unlike 'Ice Crystal' they do not remain white in colour, but take on a pink colour. The slit leaves resemble the leaves of oak trees and have a beautiful, reddish brown colour in autumn.
The oak-leaved hydrangea 'Munchkin' grows to 1.2 m high and wide. It needs a sunny to partially shaded location, there should be enough water, especially at the time of flowering. This hydrangea prefers acidic, humus soils. By applying a mulch layer, moisture and organic matter are held in the soil. This should be applied starting in the second year, before the negative influences of the nutrient binding are too large.
Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin' blooms, like all oak-leaf hydrangeas, on two-year-old wood, and therefore strong pruning should be avoided. In the spring, individual old shoots can be removed, in which the plant in thinned out. If strong pruning is necessary, there will be no flowers in the following year.
This variety can be used as a solitary plant, in a group or also in a container.
