Product information "Smooth Hydrangea, Wild Hydrangea 'Strong Annabelle'®"

The smooth hydrangea or wild hydrangea 'Strong Annabelle' is also known as 'Invincibelle': the invincible beauty. It is one of the first outdoor blooming varieties with white flowers. They have a greenish colour as they fade. The large flowers with a diameter of up to 15 cm appear from June to August on strong stems, which makes them also suitable for cut flowers. The flowering plants are also suitable as winter decoration because they stay on the shrubs for a long time.
Hydrangea arborescens 'Strong Annabelle' should be planted in a sunny to partially shaded location and the soil should always be moist. A humus, slightly acidic (pH 5.5-6) soil is preferable. If the pH is in the alkaline range (above 7), the soil can be improved with using potting soil that is suitable for rhododendrons.

This hydrangea grows about one metre high and remains compact and is therefore also ideal for planting in containers. Planted in a group, the numerous blossoms are very beautiful; however also as a solitary shrub, this ornamental plant is very attractive.

This hardy hydrangea is not very tolerant to pruning, but in the spring it can be reduced to 15 cm. In this case, the largest flowers form from the new shoots at the base. If the plant is not pruned, then the flowers will be smaller, but there be more of them. If part of the shoots is shortened by 1/3 at the beginning of June, the flowering period can be extended up into September.
