Product information "Lagerstroemia 'Fuchsia d'été'"

The fuchsia-coloured flowers of Lagerstroemia 'Fuchsia d`été' appear in July and form dense inflorescences at the end of each shoot. The individual, small flowers are characterised by slightly wavy petals, which give the plant an exotic and elegant appearance. The leaves are slightly reddish and shiny and harmonise well with the flowers. In autumn, the leaves turn bronze-red before falling off before the start of winter. Lagerstroemia 'Fuchsia d`été' not only brings an exotic flair to the garden due to its flowers, the plant IS a true exotic. Originally, the plant comes from the tropical and subtropical areas of Asia and maybe you are like me: I know these plants mainly from southern European hotel complexes. But also in the Central to Northern European garden, Lagerstroemia indica 'Fuchsia d`été' can spread holiday moods in the summer.

Hardy down to -15°C
A lot of this plant’s requirements are due to the southern origin. Lagerstroemia indica 'Fuchsia d`été' loves a sunny and warm location. The plant likes to be in the sun from morning to evening and can also be warmed up by a protective wall. The soil should be permeable and well supplied with water. If you are worried about the winter, there is no need to worry: Lagerstroemia indica 'Fuchsia d`été' is hardy down to -15°C and only needs winter protection as a young plant; the root area should be covered with straw or other insulating material.

Pruning Lagerstroemie 'Fuchsia d'été'
It will not be a problem if the shoots freeze back. In the spring, all shoots should be cut back to 15 cm, so that there will be a lush flowering in the summer and so that the plant remains compact. The plant can be kept well at a height of 1.5-2 m; a diameter around 1.5m can be reached.
