Product information "Lagerstroemia 'Petite Pink'"

The Lagerstroemia 'Petite Pink' is an exotic, but which can be easily used in your garden. Although the plant is native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, 'Petite Pink' is hardy to -15°C. The pink or pink flowers are in clusters at the ends of the shoots; the petals are slightly wavy and are guaranteed to bring an exotic flair to your garden. The abundance of flowers and the long flowering period also speak for Lagerstroemia indica 'Petite Pink'. The flowers appear in large numbers from July to September. In autumn, the autumn colours also convince the proud garden owner. Before the leaves fall, they turn a golden colour.

Pruning Lagerstroemia
And even in winter, this Lagerstroemia does not get bored in the garden. After a few years, an eye-catching stem pattern develops – but of course only if the crepe myrtle is not cut back continuously to the ground. In most cases, Lagerstroemias in our climate are cut back to the ground in April so that they can regenerate each year. This leads to greater and more intensive flowering and has the advantage that any frost-damaged shoots are also removed with the cut. By pruning, the compact variety 'Petite Pink' grows about 1.5 m high. If a slightly higher wooden frame with main shoots is created after a few years (if the plant is cut back every year, 2.5 m can be achieved with a width of 1.5m). But as I said: since Lagerstroemia 'Petite Pink' is usually cut back every year, that height is hardly ever reached.

Location and requirements of 'Petite Pink'
As a tropical plant Lagerstroemia indica 'Petite Pink' needs a sunny location with a good water supply but no waterlogging. It is ideal to plant on a protective wall so that the plant warms up quickly. Despite the good winter hardiness down to -15°C young plants should be protected; in colder areas planting in a pot (with protected overwintering) may be useful.
