Product information "Ornamental Apple 'Liset'"

Due to the incomparable flowering, the ornamental apple 'Liset' is very popular. The dark red flowers appear in a large number. Since they appear before the leave they are clearly visible. The leaves also have a reddish colour but become green in the summer. The numerous fruits withstand the first frosty days.

Dark red flowers in large numbers

The ornamental apple 'Liset' has an overwhelming bloom. At the end of April when the numerous, red flower buds form, the following blossom splendor can be sensed. And in fact, in May the simple flowers appear, in the colour dark red, almost a hint of blue is present, and in an overwhelming fullness. Thanks to this hue and the abundance of flowers, the ornamental apple 'Liset' is an often used variety and enjoys great popularity. This ornamental apple is also often planted in orchards to guarantee the pollination of non-self-fertile apples. The branches can be cut well before flowering and they will then bloom very beautifully in a vase. The leaves are formed after the flowers and are red at bud break, but later they turn dark green and have a reddish glow.

Small fruits can easily overcome the first frost

After flowering, the oval fruits also appear. They are garnet red on the sunny side, and reddish brown on the side of the shadow. The entire fruit is bluish-tinted. With a size of about 1 cm, the fruits are not the largest fruits amongst the ornamental apples, but they are formed in large numbers. They sit on long stalks of fruit. They can withstand the first days of frost, but then fall off the tree quickly. The branches with the fruits can also be used as decoration; they are very attractive in autumn arrangements.

Care

The 'Liset' ornamental apple needs a sunny or partially shady spot with a normal garden soil. This variety is moderately susceptible to scab and otherwise healthy. Pruning can be carried out as a rejuvenation measure in late winter, i.e. around the end of February, in which the oldest shoots are removed.
