Product information "Ornamental Apple 'Rudolph'"
After the rich, pink bloom, red leaves appear. The leaves become increasingly green during the summer. In August, orange, small fruits develop which stay on the plant until the first frost.A rich flowering variety with red leaves
The leaves of the ornamental apple 'Rudolph' are red-brown at bud break; the further the year has advanced, the more the red colour disappears from the leaves. In the summer, the leaves have a strong dark green colour with light brownish shimmer. In May, pinkish red blossoms develop from crimson buds. The individual flowers are up to 4.5 cm in size. The variety 'Rudolph' is very rich-flowering. Due to the rich flowering, 'Rudolph' is often planted in orchards. It is a reliable and has rich pollen dispenser and thus ensures the pollination of self-fertilizing apples.
Orange fruits hold out until the first frost
Small, elongated and orange fruits develop from the many flowers and since they freeze at temperatures down to -4°C, they do not stick to the plant for long. Both the fruit branches and the flowering shoots can be used as decoration in vases and flower arrangements.
High tolerance to scab
This variety is not susceptible to scab. It develops into a 5 m high, upright tree or large shrub with a bulging crown.
Great for solitary plantings
Malus 'Rudolph' loves a sunny to partially shady spot with humus, fresh soil. In the spring, 'Rudolph' can be cut, whereby the oldest shoots should be removed inside the crown. However, this plant does not have to be cut. Due to the remarkable flowering, this plant can be used for solitary plantings; it can also be integrated well in small groups or in wild gardens.
