Product information "White Fringetree"

Chionanthus virginicus is a rareshrub from North America with white, fragrant flowers. The up to 20 cm long flower spikes are slightly overhanging and they appear in June. Dark blue, grape-like clusters of fruits are produced from female blossoms. The ovate, dark green leaves are 10 to 18cm long and shiny on the upper side. It is one of the last trees to bear new leaves in the spring. Commonly known as white fringetree, this deciduous shrub reaches a height of 2 to 3 m. Well-drained, weakly acidic to neutral soils are optimal; it does not like long dry periods. As a young plant, Chionanthus virginicus can easily be damaged by frost.
