Product information "St. John's Wort 'Hidcote'"

St. John's wort 'Hidcote' is characterised by its bright yellow and large flowers, which bloom from June to October, a property which is particularly appreciated. The dotted, yellow flowers form a nice contrast to the dark green foliage. In the winter this plant does not lose its leaves and has a wonderful ornamental value even in the cold season. The wintergreen plant does not have an autumn colour.

St. John's wort 'Hidcote' is basically easy to care for, if you observe some basic rules. It is said that the plant thrives even in a shady location, however sun is preferred, since Hidcote forms fewer flowers in the shade. Generally the plant is very resistant to heat. The soil should be permeable, as Hypericum reacts to stunts with yellowing leaves and falling flowers. Young plantings should receive winter protection, which can be done by applying a thick layer of leaves and brushwood.

This shrub should be cut to a height of about 15 cm in the spring, which means that the plant can grow vigorously and impress with its desired flower splendour. For larger plantings, this can also be done with a hedge trimmer.
Hypericum 'Hidcote' grows up to 1 m high and is particularly suitable as an underplanting or area planting and as a hedge. Plants per square meter: 3 pieces.
This ornamental shrub is also suitable as an accompaniment of pathways; 2-3 plants can be spaced per metre. Hypericum is also suitable for containers, but then achieves a lower growth height.
Unlike the related species, the common St. John's Wort, which is used as medicinal herb, this St. John's wort 'Hidcote' is not used in natural healing.
