Product information "Dwarf Butterfly Bush 'Blue Chip'®"

In the case of a gardener, the butterfly bush almost has a bad reputation nowadays. The shrub becomes too bushy and sparse; they produce too many seeds and multiply themselves in places where they shouldn’t be. With the variety 'Blue Chip' from the Chip series, a breeding series from the United States, these problems have been solved.
This butterfly bush from the Chip series forms small, loose bushes that grow less than one metre in size. The flowers are formed on numerous panicles, which develop again from June to October. The seeds, which are formed from the flowers, are sterile (non-fertile), which means that the plant will be become invasive.
If this butterfly bush is radically pruned to 15 cm in March, it grows again and again from below and remains small and compact.
The flowers of the variety 'Blue Chip' are blue-violet. During the long flowering period from June to October, they have a lovely fragrance and, as the name suggests, they attract many butterflies. This variety remains very compact with a height of 60 cm and a width of 70 cm.
As a small hedge, in groups, in containers or for area plantings, this butterfly shrub is versatile and a small star everywhere.
