Product information "Goat Willow"

Salix caprea is a deciduous shrub or small tree that reaches a height of 8–10 m. Its broad, egg-shaped, very hairy undersides of the leaves and brownish shoots are the distinctive features of this willow, from which only female plants are normally propagated.
Also known as goat willow or pussy willow, this shrub produces large, grey catkins in early spring before the new leaves appear. It flowers from March to April and the seeds ripen in May. The plant is not self-fertile and not frost tender. It is suitable for a variety of soil types and can grow in semi-shade or no shade. It can tolerate maritime exposure and atmospheric pollution.
