Product information "Cutleaf Stephanandra 'Crispa'"
Stephanandra incisa 'Crispa' is a bushy, wide-spreading, deciduous shrub with an arching habit that reaches a height of 50 cm. It spreads by suckering and grows to a width of 1.5 m. Commonly known as cutleaf stephanandra or lace shrub, it has attractive, wavy-margined leaves that resemble maple leaves; the good, orange-yellow autumn colouration is also notable. The yellowish white, star-shaped flowers that appear from May to June are unremarkable at a distance, but attractive close-up. In the winter, the brown, arching shoots are eye-catching.Cutleaf stephanandra is easily grown in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Prune after flowering by cutting back the shoots to strong buds. However, as far as growth habit and non-showy flowers, some gardeners prefer to shear the plants to shape in late spring. On older plants, cut back one-third to one-fifth of the old shoots to the base. When the growing conditions are ideal, the plant will spread rapidly by both root suckers and by rooting its stem ends where they touch the ground.
