A special feature of this dwarf shrub is the wide, bushy habit, which results in a pronounced, upright shrub with age. The medium strong growing plants have extremely dense shoots. As a ground cover they grow to about 30cm high and are usually more than twice as wide. They can climb on fences, walls, trees or rocks and can also reach heights of up to 3 m.
The leaves of Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald Gold' are slightly smaller than those of 'Emerald Gaiety'. The dark green marbled leaf centre significantly stands out from the light yellow to lemon yellow coloured leaf margin. Individual, mainly corn yellow leaves, especially among the young leaves, provide wonderful colour accents. In the autumn months they get a magnificent pink coating.
Euonymus forttunei 'Emerald Gold' beautifully clads walls and fences, but it is also ideal for training as a hedge or a border for a bed; it can also be used as a ground cover and for grave design.
The plants are very robust and like humus-rich soil as well as a sunny to partially shaded location.
