Product information "Common bearberry"

This evergreen, woody ground cover is quick to cover surfaces and is very well suited for bog beds and acidic soils. It can also be used as an underplanting for woody plants. The shiny, small leaves are evergreen and they remain green for 1-3 years before falling. In May/June, white flowers with red borders appear. Arctostaphylos uva- ursi does not like moist soils; dry, light soils are preferred. In nature, it grows in pine forests or heath soils.
Also called kinnikinnick, it is one of several related species referred to as the bearberry. The fruits are red, edible and taste bitter and sour. The plants are 15-20 cm high, they like full sun and they are very undemanding. New stems can be red if planted in full sun; they are green in shadier areas.
It is a medicinal herb and is used for urinary tract infections and bladder infections.
