Product information "Japanese Azalea 'Satschiko'"

The Japanese azalea 'Satschiko' has a great flower colour: a bright, widely visible orange. The single flowers reach a diameter of over 4 cm and are star-shaped when they are wide open. They stand close to the branched shoots and transform the plant into an unmistakable cloud of flowers from mid-May to June.

A compact decoration for gardens

The dense, fresh green foliage sticks to the plant even during the winter, making it a valuable decoration for gardens all year round. The leaves are small, ovate and very shiny. Rhododendron obtusum 'Satschiko' has a very dense and compact habit. Even old plants only grow 40 to 50 cm high and 60 to 80 cm wide. This attractive Japanese azalea is easy to grow and it does not require pruning.

For beds or pots

With its spectacular flower color, compact growth and great winter hardiness, Rhododendron obtusum 'Satschiko' can be used in the garden and as a container plant in many ways. In beds, this colourful azalea blends well with leafy shrubs such as Bergenia, hostas or Heuchera. But also yellow-flowered epimediums (barrenwort) or white-flowered perennials such as foamflower and white cranesbill varieties are good companions. In elegant planters 'Satschiko' is an eye-catcher on terraces, in courtyards or entrance areas.

No lime!

Like all Japanese azaleas 'Satschiko' needs acidic soil with a pH of 4.5 to 5.5. You should definitely use rhododendron soil for potting and your garden soil should also be prepared with peat or rhododendron soil if necessary.
