Product information "Common Holly 'Heckenstar'®"
Ilex meserveae 'Heckenstar' (S) has a densely branched, columnar habit. The shiny leaves, which are reinforced with spines, are evergreen and thus provide good visibility and wind protection even in the winter. 'Heckenstar' (S) is extremely frost hardy and therefore also unrestrictedly recommended for rough regions. In addition, it is very tolerant to pruning and it can be cultivated well as a sturdy and durable hedge. No fruits
As a male variety, Ilex meserveae 'Heckenstar' (S) may produce small, inconspicuous flowers in May, but no fruits. As a pollen donor, it can help female Ilex varieties to have a rich fruit set.
Versatile
In addition to its function as an opaque hedge, you can plant 'Heckenstar' (S) as a solitary plant in your garden. The uniform, pyramidal habit and the evergreen leaves make it attractive all year round. Due to its extreme frost hardiness, it is also an ideal permanent container plant for large planters.
