Product information "Japanese Holly 'Fastigiata'"

Japanese holly is a real “rocket” – it grows densely and tightly upright, forming very beautiful, clear columns. In addition, since it is evergreen and slowly growing, it is the ideal choice for small gardens, balconies, terraces, courtyards and container plantings. In addition to the dark green, robust leaves, the shiny, black fruits are very ornamental. They are toxic to humans, but are sometimes eaten by birds during the winter.

An uncomplicated plant

Japanese holly thrives in the sun and partial shade. It prefers humus, evenly moist soil and is reliably hardy. Since it grows naturally slowly and densely, it does not have to be cut regularly. On the other hand, it is very tolerant to pruning, so it can be minimised if necessary.

Versatile design possibilities with columns

The clear, slender columnar shape offers many design options. Thus, Japanese holly acts as a friendly “door guard” when planted in beautiful containers in an entrance area. Cushion perennials or small summer flowers provide the appropriate undergrowth. The clear pillar shape also fits well in modern, formally designed gardens. On small balconies or terraces, the evergreen pillar does not take up much space and offers a pleasing sight throughout the year. Japanese holly is also the right choice for narrow borders, along paths, for grave plantings or courtyards.
