Product information "Japanese Holly 'Impala'®"
Evergreen and frost hardyThe Japanese holly 'Impala'® has very beautiful, evergreen foliage and it is reliably hardy. The dark green leaves shine as if they have been lacquered and they offer a beautiful sight throughout the year. The unremarkable flowers appear in May. They develop into small, glossy, black berries that are poisonous to humans but edible for birds.
Simple, no airs and graces
The evergreen Japanese holly grows in any normal garden soil and does not set high standards otherwise. It is very frost hardy, it tolerates wind and thrives in both the sun and partial shade.
Versatile
With its dense growth and the beautiful, evergreen foliage, Ilex maxima 'Impala'® is ideal for use as a screen or hedge. It reaches a height of about 2 m with relatively slow growth.
Pruning
It is very tolerant to pruning, so you can also shape it, for example, into spheres, cones or other shapes. As with the all hollies, this Japanese holly has particularly dense growth after being pruned regularly. This beautiful and robust variety is ideal for designing small gardens and it can also be grown as a reliable, winter hardy container plant. Cut shapes such as spheres and cones are particularly attractive.
