Product information "Cornelian Cherry Dogwood 'Tierlibaum'"

This loosely growing large shrub or small tree has a broad, rounded crown and later a slightly overhanging habit. The small, yellow flowers often appear in small clusters as early as February, well before the leaves, and they are very ornamental.
The foliage of Cornus mas, also known as European Cornel, is glossy green and turns yellow-red in autumn. The bright red, oblong fruits only fully ripen after they fall from the tree. They taste sour and are best described as a mixture of cranberry and sour cherry. They are ideal for making jams, but are also readily eaten by birds. This is how this native wild shrub is spread. The Cornelian cherry grows in any ordinary garden soil and it is very hardy.
